Apa itu kutu busuk?
Kutu busuk adalah sebutan untuk sejenis kutu yang tinggal di kasur atau sofa di rumah. Serangga ini meminum darah sebagai sumber energi dari hewan berdarah panas, termasuk manusia.
Menurut CDC, ada dua jenis kutu busuk paling umum, yakni Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus. Mereka bisa hidup dan berkembang biak pada habitat bersuhu 21-26 °C.

Kutu ini juga cenderung berada di tempat yang biasanya dihuni secara bergantian, seperti kasur hotel, rumah sakit, asrama, hingga kursi bus dan kereta api.
Dengan badannya yang pipih dan kecil, serangga ini cepat berpindah dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, selain dengan hinggap pada tubuh manusia, jenis kutu ini dapat berpindah ke tempat lain melalui celah bangunan.
Lain halnya dengan kutu rambut yang menjadi parasit di tubuh manusia, kutu tidak bisa selamanya tinggal pada tubuh manusia. Serangga ini hanya bisa menempel pada kulit selama 4‒12 menit untuk menghisap darah, lalu kembali ke tempat persembunyiannya.
Apa saja efek gigitan kutu busuk pada kulit?
Gigitan kutu biasanya tidak akan menimbulkan masalah yang serius. Hal ini karena mereka akan mengeluarkan sedikit racun saat menggigit sehingga butuh waktu hingga gejala muncul.
Beberapa ciri-ciri gigitan kutu yang ringan, antara lain:
- Gatal-gatal
- Kulit kemerahan dengan bintik merah gelap,
- Berpola garis kasar atau dalam kelompok, dan
- Terletak di wajah, leher, dan lengan.
Pada beberapa kasus, orang juga bisa mengembangkan reaksi alergi gigitan serangga yang cukup serius dan membutuhkan penanganan segera. Beberapa reaksi alergi dari gigitan kutu yang mungkin timbul, seperti:
- Rasa gatal dan ruam pada kulit
- Detak jantung tak beraturan dan keras,
- Tekanan darah menurun tiba-tiba,
- Dada sesak dan sulit bernapas,
- Kulit bentol hingga melepuh,
- Infeksi saat bentol digaruk,
- Demam dan anemia.
